The 2002 Lauderdale County Relay for Life campaign was ranked among the top five in the state for per capita fund-raising; it was the top Relay in the state with a grand total of $396,560.99 earned; it was ranked among the top two Relays in the Mid-South Division; and was ranked 14th nationally in per capita earnings.
The 2003 Relay for Life campaign to raise money for the American Cancer Society is scheduled for June 6 at Meridian High School's Ray Stadium. Becky Vance, a longtime volunteer Relay for Life participant, will serve as next year's chairperson. Jones, who has chaired the campaign for several years, will serve as the Relay publicity chairperson.
