A Meridian man remained in stable condition today after being shot Monday during an armed robbery of M &B Grocery and police are still looking for the suspected gunmen.
Detective Deano Harper, Meridian Police Department spokesman, declined to identify the injured man.
Harper said the man was taken to Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center after being shot in the abdomen by one of two gunmen who apparently were hiding in the 1802 26th Ave. store.
Harper said there was a brief struggle before a handgun was used to shoot the store worker in the robbery that happened about 6:15 a.m. He said an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the employees.
Harper said the department's Violent Crimes Unit is currently investigating the robbery and shooting.
The two suspected gunmen are black. One is more than 6 feet tall and weighs about 170 pounds, and the other is about 6 feet tall and weighs about 185 pounds, Harper said.
Anyone who has any additional information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 485-1860.
