Friday's key football games to settle region championships

The main event of the year in Division 5-3A is set for Friday night at Heidelberg as the once-beaten Oilers hosts undefeated Newton County for the league title. Both teams are 5-0 in the division. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
Newton County is 9-0, while Heidelberg is 8-1 overall.
Heidelberg holds a 6-1 lead in the series following Newton County's 34-14 victory a year ago.
The Oilers have made tremendous progress this fall after going 2-8 a year ago. Johnson is tied with Newton County's Darryl Mapp for the division scoring lead with 90 points apiece. Thompson has five touchdowns, while Ryan has four.
Scott Central at Newton
The most interested team in the outcome of this game at E.L. Morgan Field might just be Clarkdale. A Newton win would give Clarkdale the Division 5-2A title by point differential as all three would finish with one league loss. A Scott Central win would give the Rebels the league championship.
A Newton win by seven points or more would give the Tigers second place in the standings.
The Tigers took a 42-22 win over the Rebels last year in Scott County.
Lake at Puckett
The Hornets can grab a share of first place in Region 3-1A with a win at unbeaten Puckett.
Leading the Wolves are junior wingback Terrell Jackson (15 TDs), junior tailback Zack Parker (11 TDs), senior quarterback Mario Robinson (1 TD), and junior receiver Armundo Robinson (3 TDs).
Puckett holds an 8-2 series advantage following last year's 33-13 win over the Hornets.
Union at Pisgah
Union can set up next week's game at home with Puckett as a championship game with a win at Pisgah this Friday. The Yellowjackets secured a playoff berth with a 35-28 victory at Nanih Waiya last week.
Union is 6-1 in Region 3-1A and 6-3 overall, while the Dragons are 2-5 and 2-6.
Union holds a 2-1 series lead over Pisgah following last year's 39-6 Yellowjacket win.
Newton County Academy
The Generals wrapped up their season at 2-8 with last week's 38-17 loss at Sylva-Bay Academy. NCA was outscored by an average of 37-12 per outing.
