The State Games of Mississippi won two out of the five national awards given in the Seventh Annual Professional Awards Program at the 2002 National Congress of State Games Symposium. The first award was given in the T-shirt category for the State Games of Mississippi's 2002 commemorative t-shirt.
The t-shirt was designed by Leading Edges Advertising and printed by M-Prints National Scrubwear of Meridian. The second award was received for the State Games of Mississippi's stadium seat winning in the premium item category. The stadium seat was also supplied by M-Prints National Scrubwear of Meridian.
The State Games of Mississippi staff attended the 2002 National Congress of State Games Symposium. The annual event was held in San Diego, Calif. and hosted by the California State Games during Oct. 3-5.
The event provides an excellent opportunity for the members of the State Games' organizations and their extended families and friends to learn new ideas, share information and to renew friendships and develop new ones across the nation.
Nearly 40 states attend the symposium each year along with representatives from the National Governing Bodies (NGB's). There are planned sessions and seminars to attend during the week. One session being the National Congress of State Games Awards luncheon where Mississippi walked away for the second year in a row with the "Best T-Shirt Design" out of only five awards given. A judging committee outside the National Congress of State Games decided upon the five award winners.
The 12th annual State Games of Mississippi will be held in Meridian, on three separate weekends, June 7-8, June 20-22, and June 26-29, 2003, with Opening Ceremonies scheduled for Friday, June 20 at Meridian High School's Ray Stadium.
The State Games of Mississippi is able to keep entry fees low through the generous donations of sponsors, including the Presenting Sponsor, The Partnership For a Healthy Mississippi, and Gold Sponsors: Rush Foundation Hospital, Meridian's Coca-Cola Bottling Company, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Conoco Super Stop and McAlister's Deli.
For more information on the Games, call (800)-482-0205 or visit the State Games of Mississippi website at www.stategamesofms.org. E-mail requests may be sent to stgamiss@aol.com.
