    Heidelberg Oilers grab 18-11 victory over Choctaw Central

    Heidelberg High School slipped by homestanding Choctaw Central on Friday night to improve to 8-1 on the season.
    The Oilers scored 10 points in the second quarter and added eight in the third to take the 18-11 win.
    Choctaw Central took an early lead with a field goal in the first quarter. Anselm Henry hit a 38-yarder to put Choctaw Central up 3-0.
    The Oilers answered with a safety in the second quarter. Choctaw Central was called for clipping in the end zone to give Heidelberg two points.
    Heidelberg also scored a touchdown in the second quarter. Michael Johnson hit Jordan Payne on a 25-yard touchdown pass. Cornelious Russell ran in the two-point conversion to make the score 10-3.
    Johnson later scored on a 19-yard run in the third quarter. Christopher Thompson took in the two-point conversion. Henry scored on a one-yard run and carried in the two-point conversion to supply the third quarter points for Choctaw Central.
    The Warriors drop to 2-7 on the season and will play at Southeast next week. Heidelberg will host Newton County next week.
    Mendenhall 25
    Quitman 14
    Mendenhall scored 19 points in the second quarter and held on to beat Quitman 25-14 on Friday night.
    The Panthers took an early lead with a touchdown in the first quarter. Jonathon Russell scored on a one-yard run. He also kicked the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    Mendenhall answered with a touchdown in the second quarter. Julius Roberson scored on a five-yard run to make the score 7-6. Emmitt Denson then gave Mendenhall the lead with a 25-yard interception return. Chad Garretson hit the PAT to make the score 13-7.
    Roberson scored on a 72-yard run later in the second quarter to stretch the lead to 19-7.
    Quitman's Roderick Laphand caught a 41-yard touchdown pass from Russell in the third quarter to cut into the lead. The PAT by Russell made the score 19-14.
    Mendenhall secured the win with a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Corey Rhodes scored on a one-yard plunge to make the final 25-14.
    Mendenhall improves to 6-3 on the season while Quitman falls to 4-5. Mendenhall will host Magee next week while Quitman will travel to take on the Trojans of Northeast Lauderdale.
    Winston Academy 56
    Central Academy 0
    Lenny Boatner scored four touchdowns to lead the Patriots of Winston Academy to a 56-0 win over Central Academy in the team's final game of the season.
    The Patriots scored 35 points in the first quarter and cruised to the victory.
    Boatner scored on a 37-yard run to give Winston the lead. Jay McMillan hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    Boatner also scored on a 70-yard run in the first. McMillan hit the PAT to make the score 14-0.
    Pat Peterson scored on a 7-yard run to make the score 21-0. Boatner then scored on a runs of 60 and 27 yards to make the score 35-0 after one quarter of play.
    Joe Buck Peterson scored on a two-yard run in the second quarter to make the score 42-0 at the half.
    Timmy Farish scored on one-yard run in the third and McMillin scored on a 36-yard run in the fourth to make the final 56-0.
    Boatner finished the game with 201 yards on just six carries to lead the Patriots. McMillan had three carries for 42 yards. Winston finished the game with 360 yards on the ground while Central Academy finished with just 62 rushing yards.
    The Patriots finish the year with a 5-5 record overall and end the year with a 4-2 district record.
    S. Choctaw Academy 19
    Clarke Prep 13
    Rob Dahlberg hit Jeffrey Mason with a 55-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to give South Choctaw Academy a 19-13 win over Clarke Prep.
    Clarke Prep took an early lead with a touchdown in the opening quarter. Josh Lear scored on a 32-yard run. Ben Larrimore hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    South Choctaw Academy scored 13 points in the second quarter to take the lead. Dusty Welford scored on a 13-yard run and Dahlberg hit the PAT to tie the game, then Dahlberg hit Mason on a 74-yard touchdown pass to make the score 13-7.
    Heath Bradford scored on a two-yard run to tie the game in the third quarter. Then Dahlberg hit Mason with the 55-yard pass to take the win for South Choctaw Academy.
    The Rebels improve to 4-5 on the season and will take on county rival Patrician Academy next week. Clarke Prep drops to 6-3 on the season and will take on Jackson (Ala.) Academy.
    Louisville 38
    Northeast Lauderdale 7
    Louisville jumped out to a 21-0 lead at halftime and went on to beat Northeast Lauderdale 38-7.
    The Wildcats jumped out to a lead with a touchdown in the first quarter. Marques Hunt scored on a nine-yard run and Anthony Stanford hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    Chris Perry scored on a four-yard pass from Stanford in the second quarter to stretch the lead to 14-0. Stanford also hit Lentrell Eiland with a six-yard pass in later in the quarter to make the score 21-0.
    Northeast Lauderdale got on the board with a touchdown in the third quarter. Marcus Betts scored on a 47-yard run to cut the lead to 21-7.
    Louisville came back to score on a 33-yard run by Derrell Ashford to make the score 28-7. Ashford then scored on an 11-yard run to make the score 35-7.
    Stanford finished off the scoring with a 32-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to make the final 38-7.
    Ashton finished the game with 136 yards on nine carries for the Wildcats in the victory. Louisville moves to 5-4 on the year and will travel to play Kosciusko next week.
    Heidelberg Academy 48
    East Rankin Academy 6
    Heidelberg Academy finished off the regular season by beating up on East Rankin 48-6 on Friday night.
    The Rebels jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and cruised to the victory. Blake Bass scored on a seven-yard pass from Brooks Lewis. Mason Key hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
    Chris Kittrell scored on a five-yard run later in the first quarter and Key hit the extra point to make the score 14-0. Bass then scored on a 35-yard pass from Lewis to make the score 21-0 after the first quarter.
    Jeremy Eason scored on a 44-yard pass from Lewis in the second quarter to stretch the lead to 28-0. East Rankin scored a touchdown in the second quarter. Jay Thompson scored on a two-yard run. The Rebels blocked the PAT to make the score 28-6.
    Heidelberg scored another touchdown in the final minute of the first half. Lewis hit Dusty Bass with a 30-yard touchdown pass to make the score 35-6.
    Blake Bass scored on a 60-yard interception return in the third quarter and Dusty Bass finished out the scoring with a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter to make the final score 48-6.
    The Rebels move to 9-1 on the season with the victory. They will host a first-round playoff game next week at 7 p.m.
