Union shuts down Noxapater

The homestanding Yellowjackets of Union High school moved their record to 5-1 in Region 3-1A with a convincing 27-0 win over visiting Noxapater on Friday night.
Quincy Patrick scored on a 1-yard run the booted the extra point with 8:11 left in the first quarter to put the Jackets up 7-0. Union scored 13 points in the second quarter, with Patrick hitting Derek Harris with a 4-yard pass and Maurice Thames scoring on an 8-yard run to put the winners up 20-0 at the half.
Anthony Johnson wrapped up the Union scoring with an 8-yard run.
Union now 5-3 overall, visits Nanih Waiya next week, while Noxapater falls to 1-7 overall and 1-5 in league play.
Adams Christian 28
Lamar School 12
Luke Ogden was just too much for the visiting Lamar School Raiders to handle on Friday night.
He rushed for 220 yards and scored on runs of 5,4 and 35 yards to power the Rebels of Adams County Christian School to a 28-12 league win over Lamar.
Adams Christian took a 7-0 first quarter lead when Ogden scored with 7:44 left in the first quarter. Lamar cut it to 7-6 thanks to an 84-yard run by Randy Boyd Thompson. The kick failed, leaving ACCS up by one point.
The Raiders led 12-7 at the half thanks to a 24-yard run by Drew Moffett with 5:50 left in the second quarter.
Adams Christian open the second-half scoring on a 4-yard run by Eric Anders, then closed it out with a pair of scoring runs by Ogden.
Moffett led Lamar in rushing with 83 yards.
The Raiders, now 5-4, play host to Copiah Academy in a key division game on Friday night.
Neshoba Central 20
Kosciusko 14
Fourteen fourth-quarter points proved decisive for Neshoba Central here Friday night in Philadelphia.
The Rockets won their first game of the season in beating the Whippets 20-12 in Region 2-4A action. Neshoba Central improves to 1-7 on the season while Kosciusko falls to 2-6.
Down 12-6, the Rockets tied the game on a 7-yard pass from Andrew Robinson to Eric Horn. Kyle Vowell then made the PAT kick to make it 13-12.
Robinson added a 25-yard TD run to extend the lead. Vowell's kick upped the lead to 20-12.
Kosciusko scored first on a 12-yard run by Adrian Riley in the first quarter. The kick failed.
Neshoba answered with an 8-yard TD run by Kevin Marshall. The kick failed leaving the score tied at 6-6.
The Whippets went back in front when Eli Dew threw a 17-yard TD pass to Antron Batson. The two-point conversion failed to leave the score at 12-6 in the second quarter.
Robinson finished the game with 262 yards rushing on 28 carries. The Rockets go to Aberdeen next week.
Marengo Academy 20
Patrician 6
Eighth ranked Marengo Academy overcame a tough Patrician squad by scoring all 20 points in the second half Friday night in Butler, Ala.
Marengo improves to 7-1 on the season. Patrician falls to 3-4.
The Saints grabbed a 6-0 lead when Brent Bonner fell on a blocked punt in the endzone. The kick failed to keep the score at 6-0.
The lead held until the third quarter when Marengo's Patrick Cannon scored on a 20-yard run with 10:57 left in the quarter. The kick failed leaving the game tied at 6-6.
Paul Mascarelli then fired a 15-yard TD pass to put Marengo ahead. The two-point conversion was good for a 14-6 lead.
The final score came with 6:01 left in the game when Cannon scored on a 2-yard run.
Marengo had 201 yards in total offense compared to 74 for Patrician.
Nanih Waiya 26
Edinburg 8
Nanih Waiya moved closer to a playoff berth by beating Edinburg 26-8 on Friday night. The Warriors improve to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in Region 3-1A. Edinburg falls to 2-6.
Nanih Waiya used two third quarter touchdowns to pull away from Edinburg after a 12-8 first half.
The Warriors opened with a 1-yard TD run by Trevor Stokes. The kick failed.
Lacory Ward then scored on a 26-yard TD run. The two-point run failed leaving the score at 12-0.
Edinburg got its points on a 5-yard run by Steven Summers and a two-point conversion on a pass from Cory Burns to C.J. Levey.
Nanih Waiya bounced back in the third quarter when Stokes scored on a 7-yard run. Blake Jernigan made the PAT kick for a 19-6 lead.
Stokes later hit Brent Blackwell on a 37-yard TD pass. Jernigan's kick made it 26-8.
West Point 17
Louisville 7
West Point stayed unbeaten in Region 2-4A play by beating Louisville 17-7 on Friday night.
The Green Wave move to 7-1 on the season and 4-0 inside the region. Louisville falls to 2-2 in region play and 4-4 overall.
West Point jumped out to a 10-0 lead on a 1-yard TD run by Vernon Morton and a 23-yard field goal by Scott Hughes. Hughes also had the PAT kick.
Louisville came back on a 27-yard TD pass from Anthony Stanford to Rod Ingram. Stanford added the kick to make it 10-7 in the first quarter.
It stayed that way until the fourth when Cedric Wells scored on a 2-yard run. Hughes kick made for the final of 17-7.
Heidelberg 22
Greenwood 12
The Oilers moved to 7-1 on the season by beating 4A Greenwood 22-12 on Friday night in Heidelberg.

Northeast Lauderdale 7
Mendenhall stayed in line for a home playoff game by beating visiting Northeast Lauderdale 25-7 in Mendenhall on Friday night.
Mendenhall is 3-1 in the region and 6-2 overall. Northeast Lauderdale falls to 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in region play.
