Rush plans pharmacy related activities

Rush Foundation Hospital has scheduled several events next week to inform its staff and the public of pharmacy-related issues.
The plans coincide with this year's National Pharmacy Week, recognized Oct. 20-26.
The following activities were planned by the Department of Pharmacy Services at Rush Foundation Hospital with the theme, "Know Your Pharmacist, Know Your Medication."
Monday-Friday: A display board with pharmacy presentations and a table with pharmacy handouts will be set up in the hospital lobby.
Monday, 9 a.m.: A Medication Safety and Information Session will be held at the Rush Senior Health Center North Hills, 5009 Highway 493, with a presentation by a Rush Foundation Hospital staff pharmacist on understanding medications and medication safety tips, avoiding adverse drug reactions, benefits of developing a relationship with your pharmacist, and how to choose a pharmacist. There will be a 30 minute question and answer session following presentation. For more information call Trish Moore at 484-6180.
Tuesday, 10 a.m.: In celebration of National Pharmacy Technician Day the hospital will host a presentation on Pharmacy Technician Certification in the Inpatient Pharmacy. Gifts will be presented to Rush Pharmacy Technicians.
Tuesday, 3 p.m.: A "Meet and Greet" session will be held in the hospital lobby near near the Pharmacy Services Display. Patients, care-givers and hospital staff are invited to meet pharmacy staff. Pharmacy staff will discuss pharmacist's activities at the hospital, how pharmacist activities benefit patient care, and answer questions about medication use. Handouts for patients on understanding medication and safety tips will be available.
Thursday, noon: A "Lunch &In-Service Presentation" for the nursing staff will be held in the sixth-floor classroom with a presentation on Pharmacy Clinical Initiatives.
Thursday, 3 p.m.: Another "Meet and Greet" session will be held in the hospital lobby near the Pharmacy Services Display.
Friday, 1:45 p.m.: A presentation on Medication Safety will be held at Lamar Elementary School.
