State's Fant to play Saturday

STARKVILLE Mississippi State quarterback Kevin Fant was expected back at practice today after getting hurt on the last play of Saturday's 11-8 victory over Troy State.
The injury is not expected to keep Fant from playing for the Bulldogs against the Memphis Tigers Saturday night. He did not practice Monday and looked very shaky while leaving the field after the Troy State game.
Sherrill didn't say whether the quarterback draw involving Fant was the right or wrong call to make in that situation. Offensive coordinator Sparky Woods makes the offensive calls from the press box.
Sherrill is more concerned about turnovers which killed drives and not a particular play.
Fant is not the only MSU player who is banged up going into this week's preparation for Memphis.
Kicker Brent Smith, wide receivers Justin Jenkins and Terrell Grindle and running back Nick Turner all missed practice Monday due to injuries.
Smith was hampered against Troy State due to back spasms, while Grindle has a sore toe. Turner did not play against the Trojans due to an ankle that has not healed.
Jenkins also missed the Troy State game with a knee injury and Sherrill said he will probably miss the Memphis game also.
