Military briefs

Lawrence Kirksey of Meridian has enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
Kirksey, a 1982 graduate of Quitman High School, joined Detachment 1, Company B, 150th Combat Engineer Battalion in Quitman, according to his recruiter, Sgt. 1st Class Phillip Mosley.
Kirksey had previously served for 13 years in the Active Army and four years in the Mississippi Army National Guard.
Hospital Corpsman Sheryl A. Johnson Dixon graduated from the Naval Hospital Corps School in Great Lakes, Ill. Graduation ceremonies were Aug. 28, 2002.
She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Charles Johnson of Meridian. Dixon is a 1987 graduate of Meridian High School.
She will be stationed at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Fla.
Marine Master Sgt. Oscar S. Bosarge Jr., son of Regina Bosarge of Scooba and Oscar S. Bosarge of Baton Rouge, La., was recently promoted to his current rank while serving as Chief of Naval Education and Training, Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Fla.
Bosarge was promoted based on sustained superior job performance and proficiency in his designated speciality.
Bosarge is a 1980 graduate of Kemper Academy in DeKalb and joined the Navy in October 1982.
