Choctaw Central rolls over Carthage; Patrician wins

Wayne County jumped all over Natchez and took an easy 50-19 win at home on Friday night.
The War Eagles scored 37 unanswered points to start the game and held on for the victory.
Akeem Lofton hit Scoot Saul on a 58-yard touchdown pass to give Wayne County the lead. The PAT by Breck Mills was good to make the score 7-0. Lofton hit Charles McCall with a 48-yard touchdown pass later in the quarter to give the War Eagles a 14-0 lead.
A safety gave Wayne County a 16-0 lead after one quarter. Michael McLaughlin ran for a 31-yard touchdown to make the score 22-0. Colby Hendry then hit a 30-yard field goal. Later in the quarter McLaughlin scored from one-yard out to make the score 31-0 at half.
Lofton scored on a 32-yard run to start the second-half scoring. Natchez finally got on the board with a 50-yard touchdown pass from Leon Stewart to Jeremiah Green in the third quarter. Lamar O'Neal hit the PAT to make the score 37-7.
Lofton hit McCall with a 33-yard touchdown pass to make the lead 44-7. Stewart hit Green with a 78-yard touchdown pass later in the quarter. Lofton hit Shunta Pugh with 22-yard pass to give Wayne County a 50-13 lead after three quarters of play.
The final score came on an eight-yard pass form Stewart to Charles Cothern. The PAT was no good and Wayne County took the 50-19 win.
Lofton finished the game with nine carries for 96 yards rushing. He was also 6-for-13 for 181 yards passing. He three for one touchdown and ran for another. McLaughlin finished the game with 118 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries. Wayne County finished the game with 288 yards rushing and had 181 yards through the air.
The win moves the War Eagles to 7-0 on the year and 3-0 in division play. Wayne County will host Oak Grove next week in a huge division battle between two 7-0 teams.
Enterprise 26
Sumrall 0
The Bulldogs of Enterprise scored 20 points in the second quarter and held on to take a 26-0 win over Sumrall on the road Friday night.
Enterprise added six points in the third quarter to secure the win.
Kelly Jimmerson lead the offense with 102 yards on nine carries. He also scored a touchdown.
Colter Cannington, Corey Irby and Zach Swain each had six tackles to lead the Bulldog defense.
Enterprise improves to 6-1 overall on the year and 2-0 in district play.
South Choctaw Academy 42
Lowndes Academy 0
South Choctaw Academy won the battle of the Rebels on Friday night, taking a 42-0 win over Lowndes Academy.
Landis Herndon scored the first touchdown for South Choctaw on a 51-yard run. Rob Dahlberg hit the PAT to make the score 7-0.
Justin Bonner broke loose on a 56-yard run later in the first quarter to make the score 14-0. Herndon scored the final touchdown of the first quarter on a 33-yard run. The Dahlberg kick made the score 21-0.
Dusty Johnson scored on a 45-yard pass from Dahlberg in the second quarter to make the score 28-0 at the half.
Dahlberg hit Cory Johnson with a 22-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter and kicked the PAT to make the score 35-0.
The final touchdown of the night came on a five-yard run by Jared Linder to make the final 42-0.
Junior tailback Bonner rushed for 124 yards on 11 carries while Herndon, a senior fullback, rushed for 115 yards on just five carries.
South Choctaw improves to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in region play. It will travel to play Wilcox Academy in another big region game next week.
Union 28,
Edinburg 8
Union running back Anthony Johnson ran for 201 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets past Edinburg 28-8 Friday night in Edinburg.
The keeps Union in contention for the Region 3-1A title and a playoff berth. The Jackets are now 4-1 in the region and 4-3 overall. Edinburg slips to 2-5 overall and 1-4 in the region.
Johnson scored on runs of 5 and 65 yards. He amassed his 200-yard game off 22 carries.
Following a scoreless first quarter, Union scored three touchdowns in the second to take a 21-0 halftime lead.
Johnson's 5-yard TD run followed by a kick from Quincy Patrick made it 7-0.
Patrick then scored on a 10-yard run and added the kick for a 14-0 lead. A 6-yard Patrick pass to Derrick Harris followed by a Patrick kick made it 21-0.
Johnson capped his night with the 65-yard TD run in the third quarter. Patrick's kick made it 28-0.
Edinburg scored its touchdown and two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
