GAY M. LAKE SR.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. Services for Gay Mathers Lake Sr. will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa with the Rev. Dr. Charles Durham officiating. Burial will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lake, 86, of Tuscaloosa, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Lake was born in Meridian in 1916, he began work as a paperboy and was later employed with Armour Star Meat Packing Co.
He was a standout football player at Meridian High School and a Golden Gloves boxing finalist. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Lake moved to Tuscaloosa in 1946, where he started Lake's Menswear and then developed Gay Lake Real Estate. He served as the ninth president of the Tuscaloosa Board of Realtors. He also served as past president and was a lifetime member of Tuscaloosa Civitan Club.
He served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa. Another great joy in his life was serving as president of Gideon's International. His pursuit in fulfilling the Great Commission with the gospel of Jesus Christ has been an inspiration to his family and others.
A loving husband to his wife, Irene, for 65 years, he was also a wonderful and very warm father and grandfather. Granpapa Lake's love and memories will remain with us forever.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Wilbanks Lake, sons, Judge Gay M. Lake Jr. and his wife, Sylvia, Joseph Rosser Lake Sr. and his wife, Besty, all of Tuscaloosa, and Jerry Fred Lake of Jackson; a daughter, Mallie Lake Browder and her husband, Woody, of Tuscaloosa; grandsons, Dr. Gary M. Lake III, Peterson Browder, Clete Browder, Joseph Rosser Lake, Benjamin Samson Lake, Jerald Fredrick Lake, Coby Lightfoot Lake, Huntington Alexander Lake and William Arrington Lake; granddaughters, Valerie Lake Moates, Angela Lake Majure, Amy Lake Morrow, Susanna Hayes Lake, Marion Browder Campbell and Emily Christian Browder; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Professor Thomas R. Lake Sr. and Mallie Mathers Lake; and a brother, Thomas R. Lake Jr.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Gary Lake, Pete Browder, Clete Browder, Ross Lake, Benjamin Lake, J. Lake, Coby Lake and William Lake.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Brian White, Dr. Ron McCormack, Dr. Pedro Lopez, Dr. John Mantle, Dr. Ann Lewis, Dr. Richard Gurich and local Gideon members.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International Fund or First Presbyterian Church Benevolence Fund.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

SEBASTOPOL Services for Morales Marie Willis will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Nanih Waiya Mennonite Church with the Revs. Ethan Goode and Mark Roth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Willis, 19, of Philadelphia, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, in Philadelphia.
Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Willis, four brothers, Christopher Issac, Degotto Lee Willis, Crawford Willis Jr. and Chandell Lair Willis, all of Philadelphia; maternal grandparents, Charlie Hickman of DeKalb and Ruth Hickman of Philadelphia; paternal grandfather, John Crawford Willis of Dyersburg, Tenn.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
ELGY HALL YARBROUGH

Services for Elgy Hall Yarbrough will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jason Bird and Carless Evans officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Yarbrough, 91, of Meridian, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was an accountant and had also been associated with Buck Greene Realty Company for many years. He will be greatly missed by a lot of people. He was a lifetime member of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher as well as many other capacities during his 81-year membership.
Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis Yarbrough Haygood and her husband, Ron, of Meridian; a granddaughter, two grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Angie Ross Yarbrough.
Memorials may be made to Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of Fifteenth Avenue Baptist Church, Ray Bishop, Albert Bartlett, Ross Cheatham, Heyward Dillard, Morris Downey and Fred Snowden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Reeves Sr., Red McKinney, Charlie Bancroft, Cecil Miller, Howard Smith and Sam J. Forbert.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
CURTIS ROBERT THOMPSON SR.

Services for Curtis Robert Thompson Sr. will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Old Marion Cemetery.
Mr. Thompson, 73, of Meridian, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was retired from the U.S. Navy where he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a Mason, Shriner and a numismatist owner of The Silver Dollar Exchange.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jeanne Shearer Thompson of Meridian; sons, Brian Thompson and his wife, Gerri, of Marion, Bruce Thompson and his wife, Jeanne, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Brett Thompson and his wife, Lori, of Newport News, Va., and Curtis Thompson II of Meridian; six grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Goldner and Linda Butler; a sister-in-law, Roberta Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Thompson.
Pallbearers will be Brian Thompson, Bruce Thompson, Curtis Thompson, Brett Thompson, Clyde Jimison and Timothy Thompson.
Memorials may be made to Wesley House or Love's Kitchen.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
