Amy Elizabeth Hester and David Brent Overby, both of Birmingham, Ala., were married Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at First Baptist Church in Tuscumbia, Ala., with the Rev. Jackie Richardson officiating.
Parents of the couple are Gerald and Kathy Hester of Russellville, Ala., and David and Lena Overby of Enterprise.
Grandparents of the bride are the late Thomas Ernest Hester, the late Alma Hester and Faris and Doris Taylor.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Ernest Overby and the late Lillian Overby, and Carlis and Rudy Kufel.
Music for the ceremony was provided by Dr. Tom Ed Moore, pipe organist; Rachel Faust, soloist; Terry Jackson, pianist; and Rachel Skidmore, violinist.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a sleeveless gown of Mikado silk, edged with dutchess silk satin. The gown featured a Sabrina neckline and a semi-cathedral-length train, edged with dutchess silk satin and freshwater pearls. Her veil was scattered with crystals, edged with silk ribbon and anchored by a pearl and crystal headpiece.
Leigh Hester of Huntsville, Ala., served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Melanie Hargett Collum of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Holly King Watkins of Florence, Ala., Kim Hoyle of Birmingham, Melanie Taylor Williams of Tuscumbia and Mandy Rickard Swinney of Russellville.
Ayla and Isabella Chamorro of Lakeland, Fla., were flower girls.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man.
Groomsmen were Stace Tedford of Woodstock, Ga., Tyler Carter of Huntsville, Ala., Chad Turner of Jackson, Jason Wilkins of Baton Rouge, La., and Jeremy Wilkins of Meridian.
Ushers were Jacob Hester, Taylor Hester of Russellville and Dustin Murray of Enterprise. Tyler Williams of Tuscumbia was ring bearer.
Program attendants were Erin and Shayna Jimerson.
A reception was held at First Baptist Church following the ceremony.
After a honeymoon in Maui, Hawaii, the couple resides in Birmingham.
