EDA head keynotes EMBDC annual meeting

David A. Sampson, assistant secretary of commerce for economic development, will keynote the Oct. 14 annual meeting of the East Mississippi Business Development Corporation, it was announced today.
Sampson, former president of the Arlington, Texas, chamber of commerce, heads the Economic Development Administration, which works to help communities create a favorable business climate.
Dulaney noted that the EDA has "provided millions of dollars in support of community and economic development projects in Meridian and Lauderdale County." The city and county's pre-application for federal funding to provide water and sewer service to a new industrial park has been approved by EDA and the formal application is under consideration.
