PHILADELPHIA Services for Margaret Anderson Daws will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bluff Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Clarence Qualls and Bill Housley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Daws, 97, of Madison, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in Madison. She was born in Meridian on March 16, 1905, to Charles Atterberry Gartin and Geneva Jackson Gartin.
She was a school teacher and then a homemaker. Later she touched many lives through her years of work with the Mississippi Welfare Department. In her community, she was known as one who could be counted on to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. Her sense of humor brightened the day wherever she went. She was active in her church, where she served as pianist for years.
She loved God, her family, her host of friends, and of course her cats. Truly she was a beautiful person inside and out, a beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Anderson of Madison; three nieces, Rebecca Overstreet of Starkville, Janette Richardson of Houston, Texas, and Beverly Busching of Jackson; several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond Gartin of Jackson, Robert Gartin and Carroll Gartin, both of Laurel.
Visitation will be today 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Kim Edwards will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Duvall officiating. Burial will be in Longino Cemetery.
Mrs. Edwards, 41, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Edwards, a daughter, Monica Edwards, two sons, Josh Edwards and Bobby Edwards, all of Philadelphia; her parents, Aron and Sylvia Parker of Cherokee Village, Ark.; a sister, Carole Heldreth of Barstow, Calif.; and a granddaughter.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at the funeral home.

Graveside services for Georgia D. Whitaker will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ervin Mooney officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Whitaker, 71, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Heartfelt Hospice. She was retired from the University of West Alabama after serving 12 years as a radio dispatcher for the campus police.
Survivors include a son, Tim Whitaker and his wife, Peggy, of Jasper, Ala.; two daughters, Lynn Ford and her husband, Billy, of Meridian and June Miller and her husband, Johnny, of the Russell Community; a sister, Kathleen Daniels of Meridian; a brother-in-law, James Canterbury of Meridian; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton L. Whitaker; her parents, Joe Thomas and Plummie Raybon; sisters, Dicie Canterbury and Betty Joe Swancey; and a great-grandson, Carleton Ray Ivy.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hood, Mike "Radar" Spencer, Josh Ivey, John Skinner, Wade Ivy and Tony Margadonna.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Mary Walker will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Lauderdale with the Rev. Obadiah Clement officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Walker, 65, of Norfolk, Va., died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, in Norfolk.
Survivors include five sons, Johnny Jones of Vossburg, Evion Walker, James Earl Walker and David Naylor, all of Norfolk, and Nathaniel Naylor of Hattiesburg; four daughters, Rosie Lee Reed, Maggie J. Lee and Josephine Fairley, all of Norfolk, and Mary J. Williams of New Haven, Conn.; two sisters, her twin sister, Martha Pack and May L. Cook, both of Lauderdale; two brothers, Johnny B. Jones of Meridian and Willie Jones of Covington, La.; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
