West Lauderdale runs mark to 9-1 with victory

The Lady Knights improved their record to 9-1 with a 12-0 run-rule victory over Southeast Lauderdale on Thursday night.
West Lauderdale took an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. J.J. Huggins hit a three-run homer to supply the runs for West.
The Lady Knights also scored two runs in both the second and fourth innings as well as five runs in the third.
Courtney Godwin went 2-for-3 with a double and triple for West Lauderdale. Brook Bounds and Holly Herrington were both 2-for-3 in the victory. Kristina Gardner was 2-for-2 with a double.
The Lady Knights also played good defense and allowed only two Lady Tiger hits. Leann Workman and Cresha Little each had a single for Southeast in the loss.
The defeat drops Southeast to 2-9 on the season. The Lady Tigers will be in action when they host Philadelphia on Tuesday. West Lauderdale will travel to play Choctaw Central on Tuesday.
Union 5
Clarkdale 4
Union scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to beat Clarkdale 5-4 on Thursday night.
The Lady Bulldogs led 4-1 after scoring two runs in the top of the fourth, but Union scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game up. A run in the extra frame gave the Lady Jackets the big victory.
Union had 12 hits in the game. Morgan Milling had three singles and Madison Brantley had two singles. Brantley also picked up the win on the mound. Loren Kennedy had two singles and a triple in the victory.
Clarkdale finished the game with eight hits. JorD'an Orr had a single and double. Megan Potate and Savannah Satcher each had two singles in the loss.
With the win, Union moves to 6-2 on the season. The Lady Jackets will start district play on Thursday when they travel to play Edinburg. Clarkdale will travel to Bay Springs to play Thursday night.
Quitman 5
South Jones 0
Quitman improved to 3-0 in district play with a 5-0 victory over South Jones on Thursday night.
The Lady Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early lead and later scored two runs in the third and a run in the fourth to secure the win.
Quitman finished the game with ten hits. Melissa Taylor and Jeannie Mollett each had singles. Shaquilla Mack, Rebecca Riley and Gabby Morgan each had a double in the win.
The Lady Panthers moved to 5-3 on the year with the victory. They will play Northeast Lauderdale at Northeast Park on Tuesday.
Quitman 14
Laurel 2
Quitman pounded the softball and came away with a 14-2 win over Laurel on Tuesday night.
Brandy Moore had a double for the Lady Panthers. Nicole Creighton and Melissa Taylor each had singles. Rebecca Riley had a double and two RBIs in the victory.
