Bag of animal bones found in Toomsuba

By By Lynette Wilson / staff writer
Aug. 31, 2002
In a shallow grave alongside a black, plastic garbage bag, Clay and Julia Wheeler saw Friday what they thought might be human bones on their property in Toomsuba.
It turned out to be a false alarm.
The Wheelers were putting up a gate on their 120 acres of property on Knox Road in Toomsuba when they decided to take a walk across the road. Julia said they had never been on that side of the property.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's department received a call from the Wheelers around 10:20 a.m.
Maj. Ward Calhoun, the department spokesman, said the bones turned out to be from a small animal.
