Newton CC takes Ryder Cup win over Decatur CC

Newton Country Club won nine of 12 matches on Sunday afternoon to take its annual Ryder cup competition against Decatur Country Club by the score of 16.5 to 7.5.
The win game Newton a 4-3 edge in the seven-match series.
Among the young guns for NCC were second-time participants David Burt and Brent McMillan and rookies Lake Thoms and Tommy Harthcock, III.
In Sunday's round of Individual play Creeper Nelson (Newton) defeated Don Cooper 7&6, Lake Thoms (Newton) defeated Brandon Ezell 2&1, Steve Nelson (Newton) defeated Donald Walters 5&4, Jay Powell (Newton) defeated Randy Walter 3&2, Jeff Bounds (Newton) defeated Robert Luke 3&2, Joel Nelson (Newton) defeated Jake Yarborough 6&4, Brent McMillan defeated Scott Walters 3&1, Jim Humphreys defeated Jody Kyzar 5&3, Jeremy Stevens (Decatur) defeated Tommy Harthcock Jr. 3&2, Ben Kitchings (Decatur) defeated Tommy Harthcock III 3&2, David Burt (Newton) defeated Randy McElhenney 3&2 and Chris Clark (Decatur) defeated Leon Harris 4&3.
NCC will host a two-person scramble, Saturday-Sunday.
