BUTLER, Ala. Services for Calvin Thomas Haney will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Shady Grove Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Assembly Cemetery at Needham, Ala., with Bumpers Funeral Home in Butler in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haney, 68, of Whynot, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Benchmark Health Care Facility. Mr. Haney was a contractor and a brick mason. Mr. Haney served in the Army.
Survivors include five sons, Danny Haney of Jackson, Ala., Danny Haney of Demopolis, Ala., Johnny Haney of Jackson, Ray Haney, also of Jackson, and Terry Haney of Meridian; three daughters, Debbie Sims of Panama City, Fla., Angel Haney of Demopolis, and Terri Haney of Georgia; three sisters, Dot Chisolm of Butler, Verdie Lee Collins of Winnovons, La., and Aree Presley of Needham; and four grandchildren.
Visitation is today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
WALTER P. MCDUFFIE

Services for Walter P. McDuffie will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Null officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. McDuffie, 73, of Meridian died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Riley Memorial Hospital. He was retired from sales at Motor Supply. He was a member of First Church of God, and he was a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil M. McDuffie of Meridian; two sons, Ernest Paul McDuffie of Chesapeake, Va., and Mark Wayne McDuffie of Wheatly, Wis.; a nephew, Jimmy McDuffie; and two nieces, Judy Dubose and Penny Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Leroy McDuffie and Corrie Anderson McDuffie.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
RUBY L. SMITH
Retired home health worker
Services for Ruby L. Smith will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul LeBlanc and Paul Railey officiating. Burial will be in Clay Memorial Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 77, of Meridian died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Hospice South. She was retired from her job at Lauderdale County Home Health. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Meridian.
Survivors include her son, Leotis "Sonny" Smith and his wife, Becky, of Meridian; a sister, Jewel Tolar of Meridian; a brother-in-law, Dewey Smith and his wife, Freda, of Chunky; a sister-in-law, Julia Smith of Meridian; grandchildren, Chad Smith of San Antonio, Texas, Brian Smith and his wife, Leigh Ann, of Meridian, Jamey Taylor and his wife, Valla, of Meridian; great-grandchildren, Brittany and Clint Taylor of Meridian; and a dearly beloved friend, Otis Warren of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius M. Daniels; a daughter, Everlee Smith; a sister, Vera Daniels; and a brother, Julius Daniels.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be elders and members of the church.

Services for Sarah M. Ross will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at Collinsville with the Rev. John Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery at Collinsville with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ross, 90, of Collinsville, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was employed with Lauderdale County schools as a custodian.
Survivors include five children, William Payne and his wife, Earlean, of Clewiston, Fla., Dr. Charles Payne and his wife, June, of Muncie, Ind., Catherine Autmon of Collinsville, Sarah Crenshaw of Meridian, Betty Barfield and her husband, Elias, of Collinsville; 34 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Katie Payne of Philadelphia and Lovie Payne of Clewiston, Fla.; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two husbands and two children.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home's chapel in Meridian and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the church.

Services for Ernest T. Jemison will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at New Cannan Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Stanley Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jemison, 85, of Meridian died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Meridian Community Living Center. He was retired.
Survivors include a son, Lee Auther Jemison of Hattiesburg; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
