Enterprise shoots for playoffs

By By Robby Atkinson / special to the star

Another season of high hopes and playoff dreams are on the agenda of Jeremy Wilkins and his Enterprise Lady Bulldogs.
Enterprise had a very successful season in 2001 by making the first round of the state playoffs before being eliminated by Wesson. Wilkins and company are shooting for even higher stars as the 2002 season approaches.
"We are setting our goals high and we have a great group returning this year," said head coach Jeremy Wilkins. "We compete in a very difficult district and we have nothing but a championship on our minds."
The Lady Bulldogs are returning eight of their 10 starters off of last
year's team. One of the big members of the starting lineup this season will be Charley Speed. Speed will be the only starting senior for the Lady Bulldogs and will play in the outfield for Enterprise. Speed also competes in fast pitch softball and pitches for Joel Speed in the spring for Enterprise.
"She brings a lot of experience and she will be our only starting senior and she will get a lot of playing time," Wilkins said.
Another big part of the team is returning shortstop Morgan Robinson. She made a huge impact at the plate and on defense in the Lady Bulldogs playoff run last year. Kacey Jimmerson is also returning for Enterprise and will play third base and will be
another main component for the Lady Bulldogs.
If Enterprise wants to compete for a division crown they will need to get
past ever-so -dangerous Clarkdale.
"We know that Clarkdale will be the team to beat and we will need to play some good games against them in order to be successful."
Other teams in the division include Taylorsville, Newton, and Bay Springs. Experience will be the main ingredient for the Lady Bulldogs this season and high hopes for a state title run will make it a team for every fan to watch.
