Minnie Nave's earliest memory is picking cotton as a child, and the first president of the United States she remembers is Teddy Roosevelt.
Nave celebrated her 112th birthday on Thursday with friends and family at Sta-Home Hospice in Meridian.
She can't recall the specific years, but she remembers the excitement of seeing an airplane for the first time; her first home as a bride, which was a log cabin; and hearing news about the sinking of the Titanic.
Nave was born in Alabama on Aug. 15, 1890.
Spencer said her mother had never been in the hospital until 1996 when she was 105 years old and had to have a leg amputated because of circulation problems. Nave lost her other leg in 1998.
Spencer, a former nurses' assistant, cares for her mother at home. Pam Browning, a registered nurse with Sta-Home Hospice, helps Spencer care for her mother.
Nave also has a lot of family to keep her company. She has six grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
