Broyles out of surgery
ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) Arkansas athletic director Frank Broyles is doing well after surgery to remove his prostate gland at the Mayo Clinic on Friday, according to Razorback sports officials.
Broyles, 77, is resting in recovery at the hospital and is waiting to be moved to a family room later Friday afternoon. Broyles was diagnosed with cancer of the prostate gland in June.
Family members were waiting for Broyles' doctor to get out of another operation before learning more details about the surgery.
Broyles was expected to stay at the clinic over the weekend before returning home to Arkansas. He went to the clinic this week to decide on a treatment. He was accompanied by his wife Barbara and daughter Betsy.

Northeast Lauderdale High School is looking for a boys and girls basketball game for Jan. 14.

Davie becomes ESPN analyst
BRISTOL, Conn. (AP) Former Notre Dame coach Bob Davie is joining ESPN as an analyst for college football games.
Davie was fired by Notre Dame on Dec. 2, after posting a 35-25 record over five seasons, including a 5-6 record in 2001. Davie will be the lead analyst on the network's Saturday noon telecasts, primarily Big Ten games. He will make his debut with ESPN on Aug. 31, when he calls the game between Central Florida and Penn State.
Davie will also make appearances on ESPN College GameDay programs.
Estate withdraws request
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Ted Williams' estate withdrew its request for a court to help resolve the dispute over his body, a victory for two children of the baseball great who want to keep it frozen.
The estate's executor, Al Cassidy, said in court papers he's convinced the Hall of Famer wanted to be cryonically frozen and that a judge's guidance was no longer necessary.
Williams' youngest children, John Henry and Claudia Williams, say they and their father signed a handwritten pact in November 2000 agreeing their bodies would be frozen.
NASCAR sets changes
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) NASCAR said that the front air dams on Pontiac and Chevrolet Winston Cup cars will be increased for the Aug. 18 race at Michigan International Speedway.
Bliss takes Nashville pole
GLADEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Points leader Mike Bliss won the pole Friday for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series' Federated Auto Parts 200 on Saturday at Nashville Superspeedway.
Bliss, five points ahead of Terry Cook and 29 in front of Jason Leffler after 14 of 22 events, drove his Chevrolet to a track-record speed of 157.322 mph on the 1.333-mile concrete oval.
You get wound up in the points race and you can really hurt yourself,'' Bliss said. Track position is big. I just hope we have another race like we had in Kentucky.''
Bliss, a three-time winner this year, won at Kentucky Speedway last month, leading 94 of 150 laps. The pole was the second for Bliss this season and 16th on the series.
David Starr, matching his best series start, grabbed the other front-row position, also in a Chevy. Starr, seeking his first series victory, qualified at 156.033.
Both Bliss and Starr bettered the year-old qualifying mark of 155.477 set by Scott Riggs, who also won last year's race.
Ted Musgrave will start third in a Dodge with a qualifying speed of 155.386. Robert Pressley was fourth at 155.030, followed by Travis Kvapil, Leffler, Bobby Hamilton Jr., Rick Crawford, Cook and Mike Wallace.
