Miss MCC to perform at mall fashion show

Meridian native and reigning Miss Meridian Community College Danielle Rigdon will perform Saturday at the Bonita Lakes Mall back-to-school fashion show.
The "Back to Cool Fashion Event" is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the mall's center court. Rigdon will entertain beginning at 12:45 p.m. with a variety of contemporary Christian music.
The show will feature back-to-school fashions available from 15 of the mall's retailers, including the Gap, Dillard's, McRae's, Lerner New York, J.C. Penney, Buckle, Lady/Kid's Foot Locker and others.
A sophomore music education major, Rigdon, 19, is captain of the MCC cheerleading squad. She also is active in MCC Variations and MCC Chorus.
A president's list scholar, Rigdon was also named an all-star cheerleader by the Universal Cheerleading Association. Rigdon will lead her MCC cheerleading squad to national competition the first week in August.
Rigdon is the daughter of Dalette and Greg Newell of Collinsville and Daniel and Judy Rigdon of Smithville, Mo.
She plans to transfer to Southwestern Assemblies of God University after MCC and pursue a career as a high school music teacher, worship leader and cheerleading coach.
