Bradford, Lacy win at Briarwood

The team of Jan Lacy and Nell Bradford shot a four-under 68 on Saturday to win the 33rd annual Briarwood Ladies Invitational at Briarwood Country Club.
Lacy and Bradford came into Saturday's final round two shots behind the team of Cindy Hollingsworth and Dale Bounds. But the 68 on Saturday gave them a one-stroke win for the title as Hollingsworth and Bounds struggled with a final round 71 to settle for second.
Meridian Community College golf coach Lou Hart and partner Margaret Carver shot a back-to-back 68s to finish at 136 and grab third place. The team of Julia McKey and Paige Satcher was fourth following a 68 on Saturday to card a 137.
Rounding out the championship flight were Leigh Phillips and Pam Posey who tied for fifth at 139 along with Ann Marie Massengill and Helen Maples.
Cindy Leo and Sandy Cannella shot a two-day score of 141 and were followed by Cathy McFerrin and Gay Williams at 141. Donna Ruggles and Jeanne Taylor rounded out the flight at 151.
Winning the first flight was Amy Shelly and Sharon Alexander who shot an even-par 72 on Saturday to finish at 145. The pair won the tie-breaker over Charlene Hughes and Sissy Kern who also had a 73-72, for a 145.
Betty Swindle and Shirley Johnson were third also at 145.
Helen McIntosh and Nita Clark won the second flight on a tie-breaker after a 153 (78-75). Geneva Wedgeworth and Vernice Scott also had the same score of 153 to take second.
Lottie Vance and Mary Ann Vance won the third flight with a 163 improving their first round score by nine strokes.
Annette Kotynia and Kay Brown took the fourth flight with a 176 (92-84).
