Boating safety

As emergency personnel continued to drag Dalewood Lake on Saturday for the apparent victim of a watercraft collision, we are reminded that the placid waters of area lakes and reservoirs can become deadly. A sunny day at the lake can become a tragic nightmare for a grieving family, and it can happen very quickly.
We also think it appropriate to remind area swimmers, boaters and fishermen that the same elements often involved in highway accidents inattention, impairment, speed  also apply to water sports. Safe practices are essential.
