Divers searched Dalewood Lake for several hours Friday before temporarily calling off their search about 10 p.m. for an Atlanta man reported missing after a collision of two jet skis.
Lauderdale County authorities said they would continue their search at 6 a.m. today for Bobby Miles, 23, who was missing after the jet ski he was driving was involved in a collision with another personal water craft driven by a juvenile.
According to Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, Miles was visiting over the Fourth of July holiday with family members who live at Dalewood, a lake and residential development northeast of Meridian. Calhoun said the juvenile, whose name was not released, was slightly injured in the collision, which happened near a Dalewood boat landing.
Calhoun said the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is in charge of the investigation. Units of the Lauderdale County Emergency Management Agency, Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, Lauderdale County volunteer firefighters and Metro Ambulance responded to the emergency call at about 6:30 p.m.
Additional details of the mishap were not available at presstime this morning.
