Dickman, 46, took command of NAS Meridian on Aug. 8 after working at the Pentagon and being stationed on the West Coast. He quickly responded to the mention of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Dickman has a son who is an Army Ranger "who has been over to Afghanistan several times."
