Law enforcement officers are still searching for a man who attempted to rob the PM Grocery, 4531 Valley Road, at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday night.
Maj. Ward Calhoun, spokesman for the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, said an armed white man with his face painted blue fled the store when the owner pulled out a handgun.
The store owner chased the suspect to a large, dark SUV-type vehicle that was waiting in front. Two witnesses followed the car four to five miles into Clarke County before losing it, Calhoun said.
Calhoun said the suspect fits the same description of a man who robbed the PM Grocery about three weeks ago.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department is investigating in cooperation with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department. If you have any information, call CrimeStoppers at 917-8888.
