An evening of art and elegance awaits you at the Meridian Museum of Art Thursday, when the museum hosts its very first "Martinis at the Museum" membership invitational.
The event is designed to encourage new and renewed museum memberships and will feature door prizes, music, hors d'oeuvres, specialty martinis and an art demonstration by guest artist Alex Loeb.
A Meridian native, Loeb is well-know for his abstract pieces of art.
Loeb admits he's even used a windshield wiper blade as a paint brush.
The hors d'oeuvres and specialty martinis for the program are being provided with the assistance of local restaurants who have volunteered their help.
They include: Caf Latte, the Calla Grill, D.T. Grinders, The Hungry Heifer and Weidmann's Center.
A great selection of drinks will be offered Including non-alcoholic drinks, traditional, old fashioned martinis to speciality versions, as well as a chocolate dessert martini.
The main purpose of the event, said Terry Heder, director of the museum, is to recruit new and renewed memberships to the museum. "There's no charge to come to this program," Heder said. "But we do hope that everyone will consider joining the museum, renewing their membership or making a donation. We need support to make our programs grow to make the museum grow.
