Relay announces winners

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's largest annual fund-raising effort. Money raised for the non-profit organization is used for cancer research and education for prevention.
This year's Lauderdale County Relay for Life campaign raised more than $350,000 during an all-night campout held at Meridian High School's Ray Stadium on June 7-8.
Along with raising money, Relay for Life teams competed in the following activities last weekend:
American Cancer Society Blood Drive: Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, first place; Diane's Dawgs, second place; United Blood Services, third place.
Pizza eating competition: Weems.
Dinner competition (one winner was announced for each campsite quadrant at the stadium): Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, red quadrant; Angie's Army, green quadrant; Northcrest Baptist Church, yellow quadrant; Weems, orange quadrant.
Campsite competition: Northcrest Baptist Church, first place; Angie's Army, second place; Community Bank, third place.
Midnight Snack competition (one winner was announced for each campsite quadrant at the stadium): Miska's Militia, green quadrant; Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, red quadrant; Super Stop, orange quadrant; Northeast Elementary, yellow quadrant.
Entertainment competition: Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, first place; Northcrest Baptist Church, second place; Union Planters Bank, third place.
Pajama Walk competition: Alliance Health, first place; Parkview Elementary, second place; Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, third place.
Smartest Team (the team that accumulates the most points in visiting the Cancer Smart Shop, an information station on cancer): Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, first place; Northeast Elementary, second place; Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, third place.
Championship competition (won based on the total points earned in competitions): Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center, first place; Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church, second place; Northcrest Baptist Church, third place.
