State Games softball set for Saturday

State Games softball will be held Saturday in six different divisions. A total of 45 teams will be competing.
Age 8-under coach-pitch, along with 10-under slow-pitch and high school fast-pitch will be held at Northeast Park.
Age 12-under, 14-under, and 16-under divisions will be played at Sammie Davidson Complex.
In the six-team 8-under coach-pitch tournament, play begins at 9 a.m. with North Meridian Optimist meeting Ms. Misfits. West Lauderdale plays Brats with Bats at 10. Lil Hounds take on the NMO-Misfits winner at 11 with Biloxi playing the West Lauderdale-Brats with Bats winner at noon. The championship game is set for 7:30 p.m. with the "if" game slated for 8:30.
In the seven-team 10-under tournament, play begins at 9 a.m. with Biloxi taking on Clarkdale Bomb Squad and Ms. Hot Shots playing West Lauderdale. The Ocean Springs Lil Hounds will face the Biloxi-Clarkdale winner at 10:15 with NMO squaring off with Orange Grove in a first-round game. The championship is set for 5 p.m. with the "if" game scheduled for 6:15.
In the 12-under tournament, 12 teams will compete with action beginning at 8 a.m. Collinsville plays Lady Hounds and Choctaw meets Diamond Dawgs in the 8 a.m. games. At 9, NMO takes on Long Beach Lil Cats and Biloxi plays West Lauderdale. Receiving first-round byes are Mystic Spirits, Diamond Girls, Houston, and Red Hots. The championship game is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. with the "if" game set for 10:30.
Eight teams will play in the 14-under division. The 8 a.m. games have NMO taking on Tornadoes and Kossuth playing Lady Hounds. At 10, Amory squares off with Biloxi and Hot Shots play West Lauderdale. The championship game is set for 9:30 p.m. with the "if" game slated for 10:30.
Eight teams will also compete in the 16-under division with games starting at 9 a.m. The early games have NMO meeting Neshoba Central and Ms. Heartbreakers taking on Robinson Used Cars. At 11, Biloxi plays Nitro and CenturyTel takes on Summer Heat. The championship game is slated for 9:30 p.m. with the "if" game set for 10:30.
The fast-pitch tournament has four teams and will play a round-robin bracket. Leake Academy takes on X-Treme Heat at 10 a.m. with D'Iberville facing New Albany at 11:45. At 1:30 p.m., Leake and New Albany square off. At 3:15, X-Treme Heat meets D'Iberville. The 5 p.m. game has New Albany taking on X-Treme Heat with Leake and D'Iberville closing out the day at 6:40.
