Andrew Mark Webb returns to MCC

Looking for something to do Sunday afternoon? Andrew Mark Webb has the answer.
The Meridian native will hold a recital in the Emma McCain Theatre on the campus of Meridian Community College.
From rock-a-billy in "PumpBoys and Dinettes" to Broadway in "South Pacific" and choral works like "Elijah" with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, you've probably seen him in one production or another over the last three years.
A 1999 graduate of West Lauderdale High School, Webb loves music. In addition to being a longtime trumpet player, he discovered singing as a teen-ager.
His high school chorus teacher encouraged him to join the choir.
In the fall of 1999, Webb enrolled in Meridian Community College as a music major, still a trumpet player, and began to realize that his desire was moving more and more toward singing. Webb said he can remember the exact moment when his life changed.
Webb will be a junior at the University of Southern Mississippi this fall, where he is pursuing a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis in vocal performance.
Some of his roles include a sailor in a MCC's 1999 production of "South Pacific," the mean-spirited bully, George, in MCC's 2000 production of "The Dreams of Jimmy James," the lead role of Jim in MCC's presentation of the Tony award-winning "PumpBoys and Dinettes," and the non-singing role of Frank Einstein in a play by Meridian's own Elliot Street called "NKS TLTS LPMP."
His latest role was as the lead of El Gallo in Meridian Community College's Arts and Letter Series 2001 dinner theatre production of "The Fantasticks."
Sunday's performance, which will be recorded live, will feature English works such as "The Vagabond," by Ralph Vaughn Williams; German art songs like "Was ist Sylvia," by Franz Schubert; and operatic pieces such as "Non piu Andrai," by Mozart.
Accompanying Webb on the piano will be Barbara Fortenberry, an instructor at Meridian Community College who has performed with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra.
