WASHINGTON Federal funding totaling more than $4.9 million has been approved for rural water upgrades in Neshoba County, U.S. Sen. Trent Lott and U.S. Rep. Chip Pickering announced Thursday.
The funding will be used by the Central Water Association Inc. to enhance service to its customers near Philadelphia
The funding package includes a $3,122,200 federal loan and a $1,854,800 federal grant. The money will assist in water storage, distribution and treatment upgrades to the existing system. The project will require several phases that will eventually result in a system that will be fully in compliance with existing guidelines and will allow for reasonable growth.
The funds will be administered by the United States Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development.
