CLINICS
NCAA/Gulf South Conference Y.E.S. Softball Clinic
The Y.E.S. Softball Clinic for girls ages 8-18 will be held Friday, May 3, 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Northeast Softball Complex. Youth Education Through Sports (Y.E.S.) is sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the Gulf South Conference. Registration is required and will include a free t-shirt, a free meal, a packet of educational material, instruction in softball skills and a free ticket to the Gulf South Conference fast pitch softball tournament. CAMPS
Wildcat Basketball Camp
The Meridian High School will host a basketball camp June 3-6 for grades 3-8. The times of the camp will be 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. and entry fee is $35. The camp includes individual fundamentals, free throw contest, hot shot contest, three on three tournament, league games, camp t-shirts and camp trophies. Camp staff includes, Ernie Watson, Sherrod Miller, Marty Everett, local high school coaches, and Meridian High School basketball players. Rick Stansbury's 2002 Bulldog Basketball Camp
Session I Individual Overnight Camp, June 9-12, for boys for boys grades 5-12, $175 for day camper, $210 for overnight camper. Session II Individual Day Camp, June 24-27, for boys grades 1-6. cost is $100. FISHING
Take A Kid' Bass Tournament
The First Meridian Firefighters Local 52 will host a "Take a Kid" Bass Tournament on Saturday, May 11, at Okatibbee Lake. Boat numbers will be assigned in the order they are received and entry fee is $70 a boat. There will be a $10 for Big Fish Pot for Adult Lunker each above fee. There will be a $4,500 payout guaranteed. For more information contact Adrian Coleman at 737-5018.
East Mississippi Sportsman Association 32nd Fishing Rodeo
The East Mississippi Sportsmen Association will host its 32nd annual fishing tournament. There will be a $5,000 guaranteed prize money for first through 10th place, with lunker bass a 100 percent pay back. The fishing tournament will be May 18, at Lake Okatibbee, with fishing hours 5:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Entrance fee is $80 per boat, two person minimum. RUNNING
Okatoma River Run 5K
A Mississippi Track Club Event Seventh Annual Okatoma River Run 5-K Run/Walk, one mile children's fun run will be held Saturday, May 4 at 8 a.m. The race will begin at the Collins Prsbyterian Church in dowtown Collins and the course has several rolling hills as it winds through Collins. The race will be directed by the Mississippi Track Club. For more information contact the Covington County Chamber of Commerce at 765-6012. Entry fees are $10 pre-registered , $12 day of race and $9 pre-registered for one mile fun run and $11 day of race.
