Lauderdale County students compete in Law Day art contest

Wednesday is Law Day U.S.A. and this year students from more than 65 schools throughout the state participated in the Mississippi Bar's "Celebrate Your Freedom" Law Day Art Contest.
Statewide winners were selected from each grade, first through 12th.
Their artwork will be on display in the state Capitol during Law Week, Wednesday through Tuesday, and will be featured in the May/June issue of the MS Lawyer Magazine.
Winners were also chosen from each school, and the following students from Lauderdale County received local awards:
Kelsey Dunlap, first place, Lamar School, first and second grades.
Jackson Parrish, second place, Lamar School, first and second grades.
John Clinton McElroy, third place, Lamar School, first and second grades.
Nicole Boyd, first place, Lamar School, third and fourth grades.
Kalie Dunlap, second place, Lamar School, third and fourth grades.
Jessie Jones, third place, Lamar School, third and fourth grades.
Callie Rush, first place, Lamar School, fifth grade.
Megan Porter, second place, Lamar School, fifth grade.
Shelby Richardson, third place, Lamar School, fifth grade.
Thorey Waller, first place, Clarkdale Attendance Center, sixth grade.
Jessi Nester, second place, Clarkdale Attendance Center, sixth grade.
Molly Skipper, third place, Clarkdale Attendance Center, sixth grade.
The contest, which was sponsored by The Mississippi Bar and the Lauderdale County Bar Association, gave students a chance to celebrate their heritage and enthusiasm for the United States.
