The West Lauderdale Mighty Knight Band recently made school history. For the first time ever, it was rated "superior" in all three categories of competition.
The most recent competition took place Saturday in the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Band Festival at Pearl High School.
The band, under the direction of Wesley Lollis, was rated as superior in both sight reading and concert.
Those ratings, combined with the superior rating from the State Marching Band Festival last Nov. 3, gave the band its first all-superior rating in all three competitions.
Lollis is in only his third year at West Lauderdale.
