Clarkdale Bulldogs fall at Loyd Star

Clarkdale's baseball season ended with a 6-0 loss at Loyd Star Saturday in the decisive third game of their Class 2A best-of-three playoff series.
Loyd Star struck for four runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Hornets added single runs in the fifth and sixth frames.
Loyd Star outhit Clarkdale five to three. David Cuevas had a single and a double for Loyd Star, 20-8.
Brian May had a double for Clarkdale which finished 19-15.
Blake Wall (6-0) got the win with Justin Brewer taking the loss.
Philadelphia 17
Forest 9
The Tornadoes swept their Class 3A first-round series with Forest with an eight-run win Thursday night at Forest.
Jonathan Booker got the win as Philadelphia improved to 18-9. Cameron Tawater had three hits including a double for the Tornadoes. Dustin Turner also had three hits including a pair of two-baggers. Tyler Threadgill had a double and a triple. Tyler Rounsaville had a single and a double. Kip Turner added a pair of singles. Shay Grady belted a home run. Hunter Holley and Jonathan Holland both had two singles.
Philadelphia broke open an 8-6 game with seven runs in the top of the fifth to take a 15-6 lead. Drew Kenna had a homer and a single for Forest, 17-12. Wes Cox took the loss.
Houlka 5
Nanih Waiya 1
The Warriors saw their season end with Friday's loss at Houlka. Nanih Waiya got its only run in the top of the first inning. Houlka scored twice in the bottom of the second and added two more runs in the fourth in improving to 10-11.
Curt Myers got the win with Brent Blackwell taking the loss. Jimbo Wiggs hit a pair of homers for Houlka. Nanih Waiya finished 11-8.
St. Joe 12-7
Lake 5-2
The Hornets lost Friday's game at Greenville 12-5 and had their season end with a 7-2 loss in Greenville on Saturday.
Brent Casvechia (8-1) got the win in Friday's game with Eric Watkins taking the loss.
The Hornets committed 11 errors.
Central Hinds 6-11
Lamar 2-10
Lamar School suffered a double-header loss to Central Hinds on Friday night in Raymond in District 3-A action. The losses knock the Raiders out of the playoffs.
Matt Sykes (2-4) got the win in the opener with David Haggard (5-2) taking the loss. Monroe Mayfield homered for the Raiders. Mayfield had two hits while Drew Moffett had three hits with one going for two bases. Daniel Harrison and Kemp Mosley also had doubles.
In the second game, Central Hinds scored once in the bottom of the sixth to snap a 10-10 tie. Daniel Stubbs (2-2) got the win with Mayfield took the loss in relief. Stubbs and Mayfield each hit a home run.
The homer for Mayfield was his fifth on the season. He finished with two hits. Zach Moore had three hits with a double. David Haggard had two hits with one double. Nick Lisi and J.D. Henderson all had doubles.
