JIMMIE EARL ARMSTRONG
LOS ANGELES Services for Jimmie Earl Armstrong were held Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Baldwin Hill Recreation Center with the Rev. White presiding.
Mr. Armstrong, 60, of Los Angeles, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, in Los Angeles. He was born in Meridian.
He moved to California in 1964 where he worked in several positions. His first love was sports. He was affiliated with the California Baseball Umpires Association, Los Angeles California Basketball Officials Association, Amateur Softball Association, Municipal Sports Officials Association and referee for the Entertainment League.
He served as past director of Humphrey Park.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Armstrong; one daughter, Nicole Williams and her husband Kevin of North Hollywood; three sons, Michael Armstrong and his wife Francesca of Hanau, Germany, and David and Christopher Armstrong and their mother, Diana of Sylmar, Calif.; one brother, Kenneth and his wife, Dayle, of San Dimas, Calif.; two sisters, Sandra Means and her husband Al of Germantown, Md., and Kathy Armstrong of Meridian; and many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives.

QUITMAN Services for Alice Ida Taylor Evans will be held today at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike DePhillips, Dennis Kennedy and Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Taylor, 80, of Quitman, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, in Shubuta.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary K. McGary of Shubuta and Helen M. Green of Quitman; two sisters, Carrie (Tena) Dempsey of Reed, Ky., and Billie McDonald of Shubuta; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family requests memorials be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, cancer or lung research.
MAXINE CLEARMAN ROE

Services for Maxine Clearman Roe will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Stephens Chapel with Elders Lonnie Mozingo and Sammy Odom officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Roe, 79, of Little Rock, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at her home.
She was a member of Ideal Primitive Baptist Church in Petal, and held life membership in the John Birch Society.
Survivors include her son, Charles E. Roe and his wife Vickie of Meridian; four grandchildren, John C. Roe, Chris Roe, Tresa Mattar and her husband Todd, Sue White and her husband Derrel; six great-grandchildren, Chelsa Harmon, Kyle Hunter Roe, Jessica Mattar Logan, Dustin and Alexis White; two sisters, Lucille Kilpatrick of Little Rock and Elizabeth Beemon and her husband Harry of Chunky; one brother, Aubrey Clearman of Little Rock; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Roe; one son, Floyd Andrew Roe; and her parents, Floyd and Ina Clearman.
Pallbearers will be Tim Beemon, John C. Roe, Derrell White, Josh Fitzgerald, Larry and Gary Kilpatrick.
Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Roe and Ronny Kilpatrick.

PHILADELPHIA Services for Myrtle Peebles will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Chapel with the Rev. Charles Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Philadelphia with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Peebles, 89, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, April 18, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry and Greg Peebles, both of Philadelphia; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
