Army National Guard Pvt. Matthew T. Jones has graduated from basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Mo.
During training, Jones received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history and traditions.
Jones is the son of Chris Miller and grandson of Linda Morgan of Meridian.
He is a 2001 graduate of Meridian Community College.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class John E. Graham, son of Patricia A. and Robert E. Speight of Livingston, Ala., was recently promoted to his current rank and received a Letter of Commendation.
Graham earned his promotion based on outstanding leadership and job knowledge. He received the commendation for his aggressive leadership and managerial skills that contributed to the success of his command.
Graham is currently assigned with Sea Control Squadron 29, Navel Air Station North Island, San Diego.
He is a 1988 graduate of Livingston High School and joined the Navy in September 1998.
