Graveside services for George Ellis Mitchell Jr. will be held today at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Garden with the Rev. Daniel Chisolm officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mitchell, 74, of Meridian, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He served in the Korean conflict and was the retired owner of Mitchell's Grocery.
Survivors include his sister, Georgette Mosley and her husband, Bud, of Meridian; one brother, William "Bill" Mitchell and his wife, Alice, of Meridian; one sister-in-law, Opal Mitchell of Meridian; nine nieces and nephews, Gerald Mitchell of Meridian, Mary Louise McGrane of Vicksburg, Victor G. Mitchell of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Mike Mitchell of California, Suzette Mitchell of Centreville, Va., Sally Ann Mitchell of Meridian, Terry Mitchell of Lynn Haven, Fla., Kim Walters of Meridian and Mitch Mosley of Meridian; a number of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund or the Meridian Community College Foundation.

Services for Edith White will be held today at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church with the Revs. Thomas Broadhead and Dr. Thad Moore officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. White, 73, of Meridian, died Thursday, March 28, 2002, at Heartfelt Hospice.
She was the former owner of Kraft Korner and worked as an operator for the telephone company. She was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Billy E. White of Meridian; two daughters, Charlotte and her husband Burton Boucher of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jill and her husband Roger Von Edwins of Little Rock, Ark.; one son, David E. White and his wife, Margaret, of Meridian; one sister, Evelyn Wright of Slidell, La.; four brothers, H.C. Riley of Texas, Harold Riley of Meridian, Tommy Gene Riley of Houston, Texas, and Marion George Riley of Meridian; eight grandchildren, John Charles Keith, Kelli Lowery, Maggie White, Laura Anne White, Rachel White, Riley Von Edwins, Kirby Von Edwins and Emma Von Edwins; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Lowery, Cole Lowery, Rainey Lowery and Madison Keith.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. today at the church parlor.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Pigford, Ronny Hampton, Steve Riley, Greg Riley, Howard Donald and C.M. Buchanan.
