Elk youth car wash, and fish fry today
S.J. Lovelady Elk Youth marching drill team will wash cars and sell fish sandwiches from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. today at the Elks Lodge, 1423 34th Ave. The cost is $5 for car wash and $3 for sandwiches. Proceeds will help the children with their expenses for the competition trip in June. To place orders, call 485-9353.
Re-enactment scheduled
A re-enactment of the first "Decoration Day" or "Memorial Day" is scheduled today at Rose Hill Cemetery, located at Eighth Street and 40th Avenue. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. and is sponsored by the Winnie Davis and Robert E. Lee chapters of the UDC, N. B. Forrest and W. D. Cameron Camps of the SCV, and Friends of Rose Hill Cemetery and the Benevolent Fund.
Elks hold Easter egg hunt
The Elk Metropolitan Lodge No. 551 will host its annual Easter egg hunt Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. at 1423 34th Ave. Kids from ages 3 to 12 can participate. Try and find the "golden" eggs filled with prizes and goodies.
Calvary Christian School holding fund-raiser
Calvary Christian School will raise money Monday to benefit the school. With help from the Meridian Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and radio station Z-102, the school will be selling Coke products as a fund-raiser. The public is invited to participate in the event.
Oakland Height Lodge meets
Oakland Heights Masonic Lodge No. 577 will hold a business meeting on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the lodge. For additional information, contact David Stokes at 485-5989.
The public is invited to a special "Meet Congressman Gene Taylor" meeting Monday at 3 p.m. at the Quitman Depot in Quitman.
MDA fishing tournament set April 6
The Gamma Zeta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order at the University of Southern Mississippi will host the 4th Annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Fishing Tournament on April 6. The tournament will take place at Okatibbee Lake on the Collinsville Water Park side. The entry fee is $50 a boat ($25 a person). The weigh-in will be at 3:30 p.m.

Arts in the Park' next weekend
Meridian Council for the Arts presents the 31st annual "Arts in the Park" Friday through April 7 at Highland Park.
The Art Excellence Awards reception will be held at the Carousel House at 6:30 p.m.. Friday. Events hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. April 6 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. April 7. Admission is free.
Activities will be include food vendors, free children's hands-on activities, an art show and competition and two stages of local entertainment.
