Other' Eagles win tourney

You can call them Meridian Community College's White Team or you can call them MCC's "B" Team, but for now, you can just call them the champions of the Rush/MCC Invitational golf tournament.
Led by Jamie Sullivan's tournament-best 1-over par 72, the MCC White Team won the Division II portion of the tournament by seven strokes over Mississippi Gulf Coast. The MCC White Team shot a 301, while Gulf Coast had a 308. MCC's Green Team was third with a 310.
The MCC White Team also got a 75 from Chris Davis, a 76 from David Bailey, and a 78 from Brett Clopton. Davis and Bailey were named to the all-tournament team, along with Sullivan.
Jimmy Rentrop led Gulf Coast with a 75. Tyler Spruill and Tim McCabe both shot 77 with Beau Mains adding a 79. Rentrop and Spruill were named to the all-tournament team.
Josh Martin led the MCC Green Team with a 2-over 73. Daniel Boles, Cameron Hunt, and Clinton Hales each had a 79. Martin was the lone all-tournament team pick from the MCC Green squad.
Hinds was fourth with a 318, followed by Itawamba (320), Northeast Mississippi (322), East Mississippi (340), Holmes (352), and Pearl River (353).
Devin Davis led East Mississippi with a 77. Matthew Downing had an 85 with Bo Blackledge and Keith Faulkner both shooting 89.
East Central had a good day in the Division III tournament, finishing second to Copiah-Lincoln. Co-Lin shot a 316 to win by 27 strokes over the Warriors. Jones (344), Northwest Mississippi (354), and Southwest Mississippi (370) completed the Division III field.
Jonathan Halley led Co-Lin with a 77, Joey Young had a 78, and Chris Nations a 79, with Ben Huey and Zach Baldwyn both having 82s. Halley earned co-medalist honors with Young and Nations making the all-tournament team.
Jeremy Stevens led ECCC with a 77. Kody Comans had an 82, David Burt an 88, and E.J. Bane a 96. Stevens won co-medalist honors with Comans making the all-tournament team.
Jones was led by Matthew Hegwood's 84. Jim Rasberry shot an 85, Phillip Temple an 86, and Adam Napier an 89.
The teams will head to south Jones County today to play in the Jones Invitational at Pine Belt National.
