Hundreds of fans from a two-state area turned out Saturday for the second day of Clarkdale's 2002 Spring Fling fast-pitch softball tournament at Northeast Park.
Fans brought their umbrellas but used them to keep away the sun, not the rain, on an unusually warm and sultry weekend.
This year's 21-team tournament field included teams from Mississippi and Alabama. The teams were broken up into four different pools and competed against each other in four pool championships.
Many of the fans watching the tournament were family members. Some gathered along the fence lines at Northeast Park's four fields, sitting on lawn chairs and blankets.
Roberson said volunteers of the Clarkdale softball team deserve the credit for making the tournament a success.
