The Palmer Food Store on Highway 39 North was robbed Monday night at about 7:45 P.m.
Witnesses said a single black male used what appeared to be a small caliber sawed-off shotgun, made the clerk empty the cash register, then left the store and rode off with an accomplice who was parked in back of the building.
The automobile was unidentified and an undetermined amount of cash was taken.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case.
