The people speak
By Staff

While their signatures on petitions are still being reviewed, apparently enough Lauderdale Countians spoke last week to force an election if county supervisors want to pursue a proposed $5 million line of credit through the Mississippi Development Bank.
Supervisors have said they will decide early next month whether to proceed, knowing that the available funds will probably be exhausted long before they could put the issue on the ballot in November. We still believe the line of credit deal was the best opportunity to take care of pressing county needs.
But the people spoke and it looks like county officials will have to go back to the drawing boards.
