ECCC women take two games
The East Central Community College Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Trojans of Mississippi Delta 5-3 and 15-4 in fast-pitch softball action in Moorhead on Thursday.
Sommer Averett was 3-for-4 and scored two runs in the first game for ECCC. Rhonda Munn Also delivered two runs for the Lady Warriors. Emily Casey was the winning pitcher in the 5-3 ECCC victory.
ECCC smashed the Lady Trojans in the second game 15-3. Anna Moore was 3-for-3 3 with two runs and three RBIs. April Bufkin lead ECCC on the mound and was 3-for-4 with one run and four RBIs.

NEL rolls past Northeast Jones
Northeast Lauderdale's girls softball team defeated Northeast Jones 12-2 on Thursday to up it's record to 2-1 on the young season.
The Lady Trojans were led in hitting by Grace Ann Watkins who was 4-for-4, while Raleigh Odom and Katie Bergin were both 3-for-4. Jana Olzack and Lady Trojan pitcher Lauren Webb were both 2-for-4.
The Lady Trojans will battle Neshoba Central at home today starting at 6 p.m.

Lamar rolls past Heritage in tennis
Lamar defeated Heritage 8-1 in tennis action on Thursday. In Boys singles, Raider Wade Covington defeated Wes Hill 6-3, 6-1. Lamar's Jimmy Epps defeated Charlie Wen of Heritage 2-6, 6-0.
In doubles action, Wilson Kahlmus and Lane Rush defeated Lee Jolly and Clarke Bozeman of Heritage 6-3 and 6-2 and Lamar's Stanton Lauderdale and Frank Marascalco won their match over Graham Wise and Tyler James 7-5, 6-2.
In girls singles action Victoria Beard of Heritage defeated Amy Swartzfager 6-1, 6-1, while Kelsey Cobb defeated Carol Scarbrough of Heritage 6-0, 6-4.
Lamar's Kristina Makey and Ann Claire Marascalco defeated Betsy Waters and Kate Wallace 7-6,6-4 in doubles action. Lisa Swartzfager and Sara Michelle Nicholson of Lamar beat Sarah Virden Gillis and Macey Morrison 6-0, 6-0.
The Lamar mixed doubles team of Katie Pearson and Pat Philippi beat Catherine Bozeman and Chris Hammerbacher 6-2, 6-2.

ECCC tops EMCC in spring football
DECATUR East Central Community College concluded spring football drills by defeating East Mississippi Community College 26-13 in an afternoon scrimmage at Warrior Stadium.
Scoring for East Central were running back Ramon Williams of Daphne, Ala. (six-yard run), linebacker Josh Viverette of Lake (85-yard fumble return), quarterback Terrell Robinson of Palatka, Fla. (33-yard run) and quarterback Kevin Stevens of Troy, Ala. (17-yard run). Travoris Osley of Hueytown, Ala., made two extra point kicks.
East Central led 20-6 at the half. No details were available for East Mississippi.

Clarkdale downs Neshoba Central, 7-1
The Lady Bulldogs of Clarkdale High School erupted for four run in the fifth inning on the way to a 7-1 win over Neshoba Central on Thursday night.
Brandi Wright and JorD'an Orr both had two singles for the Lady Bulldogs, while Emily Howard picked up the win on the mound.
Clarkdale returns to action on Tuesday when the Lady Bulldogs play host to Meridian High School at 6 p.m.

Central beats Hebron Christian
Von Gomel struck out 11 batters to lead the 1-1 Vikings of Central Academy to a 5-2 win over Hebron Christian on Thursday.
Wes Lee ripped a double and single to lead Central, while James Pruitt and Tyler Huerkamp had a double each. Central visits Winston Academy today for a 5 p.m. contest.
