Law enforcement officials announced Thursday that a Meridian student was awarded $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of two other students for calling in bomb threats.
The recipient of the money, who was not identified, will receive the top dollar reward from Lauderdale County CrimeStoppers.
Kate Griffin Junior High School and Meridian High School received several bomb threats this school year disrupting classes while students were evacuated and buildings checked for explosives.
Two juveniles were arrested and charged on Feb. 15 with making the threats.
Sam Thompson, director of safety for the city school district, said the arrests would not have been possible without information received through community and school CrimeStoppers phone calls.
Maj. Ward Calhoun, spokesman for the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, said more than $16,700 was paid by CrimeStoppers last year for information leading to arrests.
