YORK, Ala. Services for Nellie Sheffield Hopkins were to held today at 10 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Larry Teasley officiating. Burial was to be in York Cemetery with Bumpers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hopkins, 85, of York, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Marion. She was a member of York Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Ollie R. Hopkins Sr. and his wife, Louise "Tiny,"of Meridian; a sister, Willie Galloway of Cuba; three grandchildren, Ollie Hopkins Jr., Charles Edward Hopkins and Michael Wayne Hopkins; and six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Hopkins Jones, Sara Bess Hopkins, Jeremy Hopkins, Jeffery Hopkins, Elesha Hopkins and Tim Hopkins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Hopkins, Mike Hopkins, Tim Hopkins, Jeremy Hopkins, Jeffery Hopkins and Edwin Malone.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Eastern Star.
MACKIE SMITH

QUITMAN Services for Mackie Smith will be held today at 2 p.m. at Pachuta Baptist Church with the Revs. Ricky Carlisle and Dennis Coats officiating. Burial will be in Manassa Cemetery with Wright's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 56, of Quitman, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Smith, a son, Jerry Smith and his wife, Lisa, daughters, Julie Boykin and her husband, Jason and Tammy Smith, a brother, Bill Beckman and his wife, Myrtle, all of Quitman; a sister, Judy Coleman and her daughter, Teri, of New Orleans; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Doris Beckman.
LONNIE J. MOTT
Retired Southern Railroad
Services for Lonnie J. Mott will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard McKee officiating. Burial will be in Old Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Mott, 83, of Meridian, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Riley Hospital. He was born in Kemper County on Aug. 23, 1918, to George and Mittie Mott. He was a lifelong resident of Meridian. Mr. Mott served as machine gunner in Company H, 314th Infantry, 79th Division during World War II. He participated in the Normandy Invasion and was injured after the American forces captured the French port of Cherbourg. He was awarded the Purple Heart. After being sent to England to recover from his injuries, a Special Services officer heard him playing the fiddle for his fellow injured soldiers at the Red Cross Hospital and he was asked to join the Special Services, where he entertained troops throughout Europe for the remainder of the war.
Mr. Mott worked for Southern Railroad for 35 years. He enjoyed farming, fishing and woodcarving. Even with a sever hearing loss due to his war injuries, he continued to entertain young and old with his many musical talents. The family offers many thanks to Ginny Parker and Ruth Wilkins for their love and support and to Becky Boone and Wanda Grimes of Riley Hospital nursing staff.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ora Lee Mott of Meridian; two daughters, Becky Arrigo and her husband, Roy, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Brenda Fournier and her husband, Dean, of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Joe, Nicki, Dean and Emmalee; three great-grandchildren, Kiya, Ivy Grace and Zoe.

Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

PHILADELPHIA Services for J.O. "Poochie" Tindol Sr. will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Carl Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Tindol, 71, of Brandon, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was a veteran of the Korea War.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Tindol of Brandon; a daughter, Donna Hyde of Maurepas, La.; sons, Julius O. Tindol Jr. of Decatur, Ala., and Robert Austin Tindol of Brandon; a sister, Betty Mabry of Jackson; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Wade Tindol.
Visitation will be today 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
