Miss Hospitality applications accepted

Applications will be accepted through March 8 for the local 2002 Miss Hospitality Program sponsored by the Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau.
Bureau executive director Sandy Bynum, a former Mississippi Miss Hospitality, said applicants must be at least 19 years of age but not older than 24, as of July 24, of this year. Applicants must be at least a high school graduate, never been married or have had children.
Entry forms must be completed and returned to the Lauderdale County Tourism Bureau, 212 Constitution Ave., by 5 p.m. March 8.
The program will be presented at Merrehope on March 23. Elements include an interview, short speech and black dress competition. The winner will represent Meridian and Lauderdale County throughout the year as a goodwill ambassador. The local winner will also compete in the state competition, scheduled in Hattiesburg July 21-27.
Miss Hospitality and the runner-up will receive scholarships to Meridian Community College. A "winner's package" will also include prizes from local businesses.
