Last Friday night Carthage Lady Tigers head coach Jason Gentry was intent on stopping the scoring juggernaut of Southeast Lauderdale's Monique Horner. To a degree it worked, as Horner was held to 17 points. But in Monday's opening round of the Division 5-3A Tournament, his plan backfired, as Horner dropped in 29 points, in about 20 minutes of work. The Northeast Lady Trojans saw their season come to a close in the Division 5-4A tournament at Jones County Junior College Wednesday night. OXFORD Mississippi had a win over Southeast Conference foe Florida almost in hand, but let it slip away. Still, there were few regrets in the locker room after the Gators slipped away with a 86-84 overtime victory Wednesday night. Florida went ahead 85-84 on Dan Cross' 10-foot jump shot with 26 seconds left in overtime. Ole Miss missed a shot that would have given them the lead, but got another chance when Florida's Stacy Poole only made only one of two free throws to give the Gators the 86-84 lead.
