Season ends for Clarkdale teams

The 2001-02 basketball season came to an end for the Clarkdale teams Tuesday night in the Division 5-2A Tournament at Lexington.
In the girls' bracket, South Leake, 20-5, defeated Clarkdale 55-30 behind 28 points from Tierra Young, 12 from Monique Overstreet, and 10 from Brandy Earnest.
Clarkdale was led by Tamara Brown's 14 points.
In the boys' bracket, South Leake, 17-8, beat the Bulldogs 79-38. The Wildcats got 24 points from Deanthony Ealy, 13 from Jerry Luckett, and 12 from Chevlon Ellis.
Bryant Gaddis led Clarkdale, 7-23, with 16 points. Brandon Mabry had 10.
Scott Central girls 73
Kemper County 64
Scott Central ended Kemper County's season with the nine-point loss at Lexington in the Division 5-2A Tournament.
Scott Central led 34-28 at halftime.
The 19-14 Lady Rebels got 30 points and 18 rebounds from Kattie Nickson, 15 points from Britney Burks, 13 points from Elyse Clay, and 11 points from Marquitta Anderson.
Scott will meet top-seeded Williams-Sullivan in Thursday's semifinal round.
Kemper, 8-18, got 25 points from Monica Mosley, 18 from Melody Nave, and 12 from Tamician Davis. Mosley and Nave both hit four 3-pointers for the Lady Wildcats.
Scott Central shot 44 free throws to nine for Kemper County.
Wayne County 64
Brandon girls 42
The Lady War Eagles continued their splendid season with a 22-point victory at Brandon in the Division 6-5A Tournament.
Wayne, 29-1, got 16 points from Nicole Jordan, 12 from Candace Bartee, and 10 each from Carla Bartee and Natalie Jordan.
Jessica Atkinson led Brandon, 9-19, with 18 points.
Enterprise girls 39
Bassfield 29
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 8-22 with their win over the hosts in the Division 7-2A Tournament at Bassfield.
Enterprise got 18 points from Kaccy Jimmerson and 11 from Teela McBride.
LaQuinta Turner led Bassfield with 10.
Bassfield boys 68
Enterprise 58
The Bulldogs finished their year with a 13-15 mark after losing in first-round action of the Division 7-2A Tournament at Bassfield.
Enterprise got 26 points from Corey Boggan and 10 from Eric James.
Bassfield was led by Jason Thompson's 22 points.
Noxapater girls 55
Ray Brooks 48
Deidre Triplett scored 21 points and Crystal Hunter added 14 to lead Noxapater past the Benoit team in the Division 5-1A Tournament at McAdams.
Ray Brooks was led by Carla Gibbs' 16 points.
Ethel boys 77
Noxapater 68
The Tigers finished their year with a 5-13 mark after losing to Ethel in the Division 5-1A Tournament at McAdams.
Four players accounted for 115 of the game's 145 points. Ethel got 37 points from Jamaine Merritt and 22 from Brian Carr. Noxapater got 36 from Jonathan Hunter and 20 from Steven Cole.
